Is OBS Studio right for me?
OBS stands for Open Broadcaster Software.
OBS Studio started out as a small project and the first version was released in August 2012 and as of 2022 we are now at version 27. On the OBS website this is what we read: “It’s a free and open source software for video recording and live streaming”
You are probably asking yourself:
"I’m here because I want to level up my professional presentations in Zoom or Teams. I'm not a gamer doing live streams, am I at the right place?"
Indeed, OBS was originally used almost exclusively to live stream to YouTube or Twitch and it was, and still is, gamers’ preferred tool.
However, especially during the pandemic, the software has skyrocketed its popularity for professional presentations in combination with videconferencing platforms. So indeed, even if your are not a gamer streaming on YouTube, you are a live streamer, streaming your content to your colleagues and clients.
Now what about the video recording? Whether you were already considering OBS for recording videos or not, this is a great opportunity. Everything you'll learn for live presentations applies also to video recordings, so you will be able to produce phenomenal tutorials, video messages, or marketing videos.
The answer is YES: OBS Studio is for you!
